The feeling is mutual, Maya.
We don't set out to entertain an audience with our shows; we set out to experience our shows with our audience — because our shows are a law unto themselves, and anything can happen.
We don't set out to impress you, to invent "original" or "clever" material, or to insist upon ourselves all evening; we set out to express ourselves fearlessly, to discover new stories with you, and to engage you, fully, in absolute scenes! We're setting out to be funny; we're setting out to be — well, us! When we experience truth in our shows, laughter feels different. It's about all of us.
The most spectacular things happen naturally, every now and again. And so, The Grand Jam is for all of us (and all of you) who are naturally capable of spectacular things to just act natural.
TheatreSports™, Maestro™ Impro and Gorilla Theatre™ are so more than world-renowned Show Formats — they're the Holy Trinity in our church of play for audience and players alike!
We're don't set out to be "original" — sometimes, we just end up with new ideas for shows that we simply have to put out there Early Stages, Novel Ideas and Working Titles... to name a few!
We're all friends here.
Whether you're a veteran improviser, a vagabond, the vicarious type, or a complete and utter impro-virgin, this Impro melting pot is where we sink your teeth, find your feet, and throw three sheets to the wind
There's no "I" in TheatreSports™
Teams of players go head to head in rip-roaring competition — raising the stakes and risking their scores with every challenge they set, in round after unpredictable round of Impro Theatre, facing up their audiences and esteemed Judges in high hopes of earning enough points to win TheatreSports™
May the audience be ever in your favour...
Everyone's out for themselves, as 12-15 players battle it out in the "Hunger Games" of Impro Shows — building each other up, only to knock each other out of the competition, and doing whatever it takes to win enough points and survive eliminations — because the winner will take it all in Keith Johnstone's Maestro™ Impro
And the crowd goes wild...
4-5 players attempt to live-direct each other in improvised scenes. There will be rewards and there will be forfeits. There will be losers, and the audience will determine our "best director" the winner of an intimate week with an actual gorilla. It's absolutely bananas!
