Six sessions rooted in game-play.
Games to level the playing field for
high-spirited improvisation.
Games to surrender your agenda to
— minds, hearts, bodies, and souls.
Games to practice and perform with
— raising our game with team spirit.

A six-part intensive in theatre-making through improvisation.
Bringing attention to what's at play —
within us, between us, and around us.
Bringing intention to how we play —
with a sense of Self, Status, Story, Space, Style, and Scene.
In practice. In performance. In life.
I'm Darren. Hi 👋 I'm from Longford. I live in Dublin. And I'm a playmaker.
Working across arts, education, and community settings, I'm both in play and making the plays — leading with improvisation to create and perform award-winning theatre for children and adults.
In 2014, fresh out of Trinity College Dublin with a BA in Drama & Theatre Studies, fierce notions, and no sense of direction, I took a risk and followed my now-husband Dave to Vancouver. Landing at TheatreSports™ early on at The Improv Centre, I wanted in on the game. I trained, performed, and served as Education and Outreach Coordinator for the company until 2016.
In 2017, I set up Grand Stretch as Ireland's member of the International TheatreSports™ Institute. Rooted in TheatreSports™ and Keith Johnstone's Impro, my work has been shaped by incredible artists doing wild and wonderful things with improvisation worldwide, and by my own ideas too.
Playing Fields and Making Senses come from this — a fail-safe approach to fearless play-making, where play becomes craft, and craft becomes play.
So, come and play.
