TheatreSports™ is a high-octane show that generates true competition between teams of improvisers, as mutual challenges inspire absolute scenes in spontaneous theatre with artistic ambition.
Created by Keith Johnstone with the Loose Moose Theatre Co. in the 1970s, TheatreSports™ took the world by storm in the '80s / '90s. It thrills audiences with unpredictable scenes and scores, as heroes are humbled, and the outliers outshine. To get ahead in the game, Team Players must take risks. And risks come with failure—but when the spirit is right, failure becomes its own reward.
Grand Stretch is licensed to perform TheatreSports™, pioneering Keith Johnstone's Impro on the local scene since 2017 as Ireland's leading member of the International TheatreSports™ Institute.

WE'RE ALL IN (10 mins)
Before we divide and conquer, we come together as one community. We play a few games to warm up the crowd and remind ourselves that we're all friends here—or so it would seem, until the real games begin!
THE Friendly
ACTS OF KINDNESS (10 mins)
This short 'n' sweet opener is a noncompetitive match, ideal for newcomers to TheatreSports™. It gives teams a chance to challenge and play scenes with no fear of friends keeping score.

ALL OR NOTHING (30 mins)
Challengers play first, opponents respond, and a Moderator facilitates audience votes—awarding an enviable 5 points to their favourites scenes. Game On!

THE FINAL SCORE (45 mins)
Not for the faint of heart, this final match demands fearless players. Because this time, it's personal, as three honourable Judges are authorised to award 1-5 points to every scene—answering to no one.

There’s no required experience "level" for Team Spirit. What you’ve learned elsewhere may well or might not help you here. TheatreSports™ invites you to come as you are, give what you’ve got, and go for it—mind, heart, body, and soul.
