High-stakes play in the heat of competition — fuelled by scene challenges, team spirit, and an audience that sets the score.
Created in the 1970s by Impro pioneer Keith Johnstone, TheatreSports™ went global. Now it’s our turn to play.
We are game.
Risk is rewarded. Failure is vital.
But when the spirit is right, failure becomes its own reward. We learn — and we raise our game.
For each play to count, the audience has to be honest with us. Not polite. Not passive. Committed. Playing their part. Because the scenes are charged by the challenge. The competition matters. The heat is on.
This is TheatreSports™.

Grand Stretch is proud to present TheatreSports™ as Ireland's leading member of the International TheatreSports™ Institute since 2017.

We stage TheatreSports™ in leading venues like The Complex and Smock Alley Theatre.

We've played Body & Soul, Gather Improv Festival, and Improv Fest Ireland.

Near-monthly, we play upstairs at Chaplins Bar. Our no-frills game-raiser. €5, all in.

Our open invitation • 15 mins
Players, guests, even our audience jump up and play — no teams, no score, no sweat. Just the love of the game, before play-off.

Non-competitive match • 15 mins
No judgement. No scoreboards. Newer teams set challenges to inspire a few rounds of scenes. A chance to find our rhythm before the first match.

Audience-scored • 30 mins
And now, the Scoreboard.
The bell. The horn. A box?
Teams face off in challenges. The audience awards 5 points to their favourite scenes.

Panel-scored • 30 mins
United they sit.
Divided they score.
Three judges turn up the heat, issuing up to 5 points and penalties as they see fit.
