We're back in the black-box—bigger, and bolder, and raising our game with Team Players.
We’ve had a crackin’ year since our first Grand Fest, and we're thrilled to be taking over DU Players Theatre again, for another action-packed week of impro workshops and evening shows in the height of the Irish Summer—a most unpredictable season. More info on evening events coming soon.
Instead of an early-bird deadline, we’re offering a €10 discount on each of our workshops, for the first 5 sign-ups. And yes—you are allowed sign up right now for all six workshops, and save up to €60.
The adventure begins on a high, with Spirit Guides.
The adventure begins on a high, with Spirit Guides.
This workshop levels the playing field for fail-safe, fun-fuelled, fearless play in a whirlwind of games. Freewheeling from schoolyard staples to our favourite impro games and TheatreSports™ challenges, our Spirit Guides will carry us away— making wild things happen in "absolute scenes."
No matter your experience level or background, Spirit Guides are already stirring in your impulses, inviting you to let go—to be bold, to take chances, to risk failure, to misbehave with good humour, to support and value others, to stay open and honest—and to fail with aplomb. So, let's go!
The possibilities are endless, with Open Minds.
The possibilities are endless, with Open Minds.
Perfectionism be damned! Why should ego have such a strong hold? For the greater good of your creativity, this workshop loosens you up to let go—in effortless, curious, incidentally genius flow. Open Minds close the distance between generating ideas and bringing them forward as offers.
Playing right-brain impro games, we surrender the left-brain agenda to instinct, intuition, and impulse. Letting go of the expectation that we need to be interesting, clever, original, funny, or whatever else, we'll get creative with information gaps and trust that our Open Minds will fill in the blanks as we go.
We're a law unto ourselves, with Unruly Hearts.
We're a law unto ourselves, with Unruly Hearts.
All is fair in love and war—and unruly impro games. This workshop embarks on a fiery conquest, as fleeting feelings storm the scene. Overruling logic, Unruly Hearts will lead the charge in the unreasonable, unassailable, and unpredictable pursuit of pure, prized passion—no holds barred!
We’re playing with information gaps—but this time, it comes from the heart. Taking wild leaps of faith with big emotional offers and attitudes in scenes, we’ll focus on the range and speed of change, making space for our storytelling left-brain interpreter to justify everything, after the fact.
Attune to your every move, with Busy Bodies.
Attune to your every move, with Busy Bodies.
Actions speak louder than words, they say. So, listen to your body, and let's get physical with impro games in this action-packed workshop. Building on kinetic, mimetic, synergetic, and at times balletic play, Busy Bodies offer animated alternatives to “Standing at Elevens” and “Talking Heads”.
Moving in the space, we'll tune into each other and play our way into 'ensemble' through impro games. Building the vocabulary of physical interaction—mirroring, imitating, evolving, responding, adapting—we’ll unlock rich, embodied, and meaningful storytelling, and apply it to more intimate scenes.
Life was meant to be shared, with Soul Mates.
Life was meant to be shared, with Soul Mates.
Soul Mates aren't meant to complete us. They're heaven-sent to help us remember who we truly are. The intention of this workshop is to manifest soul connections between team players and audiences—playing with openness and honesty in personal, universal, meaningful, and powerful story-scenes.
Games will inspire us to bring depth to our impro, as personal truths resonate as universal themes. We'll learn to tell meaningful stories in scenes that matter, challenging ourselves to make an impact—exploring difficult themes with compassion and trusting our moral compasses to guide us.
Space⁴ is an information gap—the void we rush to fill.
Space⁴ is an information gap—the void we rush to fill.
This workshop approaches "Space" as a physical and subliminal storyteller. Rather than explaining it all away, we'll bring the audience into play— paying closer attention to detail, questioning, speculating, anticipating, bridging gaps, and closing a distance to satisfying conclusion.
In stillness and silence, between what outwardly happens, we flood the scene with our projections. Invisible forces of comic-dramatic tension give rise, holding us in suspense, and releasing us in surprise.
We may yet confirm those conclusions, and perhaps we’ll meet expectations—or not. Do we give them what they want? Do we give them what they need? Or do we "hold" space, for possibility?
