In 2024, we took a notion, and ran a spontaneous week of our Playing Fields workshops and improv shows at Players Theatre.
This year, we're teaming up with Ireland’s improv Earth-mother Jessica Keith and GATHER Improv Festival to bring you another jam-packed week of workshops and performances in July.
A bit about GATHER
GATHER Improv Festival began in 2020 as a small festival retreat in the Irish countryside for practitioners of improvisational comedy and theatre, with an emphasis on highlighting the improv community in Ireland and Northern Ireland.A combination of workshops, performances, curated happenings and an improv jam created one magical event. A weekend for improvisors to connect in a gorgeous festival-nature vibe with loads of space to roam and congregate.
GATHER has become the heart of the Irish Improv scene. More than an annual event at Martinstown House in Kildare, Jessica Keith created a GATHER community through the festival. We're honoured to take the connections we've made in the woodlands, at campfires, and over meals shared at Martinstown House, and bring them into players theatre this year.
